The United Nations General Assembly has set a target to decrease road traffic deaths and injuries by at least 50% from 2021 to 2030 (A/RES/74/299). Key contributors to traffic accidents include distracted driving and unsafe road infrastructure.
Moreover, in 2016, traffic accidents were the fifth leading cause of death in the European Union, with approximately six fatalities per 100,000 individuals.
