Supported OBD Devices
On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) devices play a crucial role in interfacing with your vehicle's computer system to provide valuable data. At RoadSense, we want to make the process as inclusive as possible, and thus we support a broad range of OBD devices.
OBD Device Compatibility
RoadSense works with a variety of OBD devices, allowing more users to connect and contribute their vehicle data. The compatibility spans across a broad marketplace, from premium to budget devices, ensuring anyone can participate.
The compatibility extends even to the most affordable OBD devices available in the market, meaning devices from international markets such as China are also supported. This ensures that users can participate in RoadSense without a hefty initial investment.
However, we recommend ensuring that the device you opt for supports the standard OBD-II protocol. This is a universal standard used by all vehicles with an OBD port, and thus a device supporting this standard will be compatible with RoadSense and your vehicle.
Connecting Your OBD Device
Connecting your OBD device to RoadSense is easy. Plug the device into the OBD port in your vehicle (generally located under the dashboard near the steering wheel), then pair it with your phone using the RoadSense app.
The app will guide you through the pairing process. Once paired, you can start contributing a more detailed set of data and earn more Sense tokens.
Note
While we support a wide range of OBD devices, the quality, accuracy, and consistency of the data can vary from device to device. Therefore, if you plan to contribute regularly to RoadSense, consider investing in a reliable OBD-II scanner for the best experience.
With your help, we can achieve our goal of creating a safer and more efficient driving environment for everyone.
